How to make an espresso.

Espresso is the base of all of our coffee drinks.

  1. Knock the spent coffee ‘puck’ out of the portafilter and wipe briefly with a dry cloth/blue roll to get all spent grinds out.
  2. Present portafilter to the grinder and dose freshly ground coffee into the basket.
  3. Level the dose and tamp it, lean in to be sure that you have tamped hard enough and make sure that it has stayed level.
  4. With your hand, quickly wipe any excesss coffee grinds that are on top of or around the basket.
  5. Flush the group head.
  6. Lock in the portafilter and start brewing immediately.
  7. Place the relevant cup below the spouts to catch the extracted espresso.
