How to make an espresso.
Espresso is the base of all of our coffee drinks.
- Knock the spent coffee ‘puck’ out of the portafilter and wipe briefly with a dry cloth/blue roll to get all spent grinds out.
- Present portafilter to the grinder and dose freshly ground coffee into the basket.
- Level the dose and tamp it, lean in to be sure that you have tamped hard enough and make sure that it has stayed level.
- With your hand, quickly wipe any excesss coffee grinds that are on top of or around the basket.
- Flush the group head.
- Lock in the portafilter and start brewing immediately.
- Place the relevant cup below the spouts to catch the extracted espresso.
